True Blessedness

Blessed beyond that of Mary

From the gospel according to Luke (ESV)

27 As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” 28 But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Mary truly was blessed to have been chosen as the vessel and nurturer of our Saviour, yet by Jesus’ own assertion and response, that blessedness pales in comparison to being proclaimed blessed through submission and obedience to the will and word of God…”for [the gospel] is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Rom 1.16).”
